ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

What Is PMU Correction?

A PMU correction is a follow-up appointment designed to perfect your healed result after the first permanent makeup session.

‍

Because every skin type heals differently, pigment retention can vary from person to person. Some areas may heal lighter, softer, or need small adjustments once the skin has fully recovered.

‍

This session allows us to see the true healed result and refine the colour, shape, and overall balance of your brows or lips. It is an important part of achieving a polished, natural-looking final result without overworking the skin during the first appointment.

THE PROCESS

How It Works

Consultation and assessment first. Once plan is agreed, correction session carried out. Aftercare guidance provided.

‍

How To Prepare

  • Wait until the area is fully healed before booking correction
  • The ideal timing is usually 6–8 weeks after your first PMU session
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before your appointment
  • Avoid retinol, acids, and exfoliating skincare around the area for 7 days prior
  • Avoid sunbeds and excessive sun exposure before treatment
  • For lip correction, keep lips well hydrated before your appointment
  • If you are prone to cold sores, antiviral medication may be recommended before lip correction
  • Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the treated area if possible

Contraindications

This treatment may not be suitable if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have active skin irritation, infection, eczema, or psoriasis in the treatment area
  • Have active cold sores for lip correction
  • Are currently using Accutane/isotretinoin
  • Have uncontrolled diabetes
  • Are prone to keloid or hypertrophic scarring
  • Have certain autoimmune or healing disorders
  • Recently had Botox, filler, laser, or chemical peels near the treatment area
  • Are currently unwell or immunocompromised

Aftercare Guide

Healing after a PMU correction is usually easier and lighter than the first session, as the treatment is focused on refining and perfecting the healed result.

The treated area may appear slightly darker or brighter immediately after the appointment, then gradually softens as it heals.

To support the best healed result:

  • Keep the area clean and dry as advised
  • Avoid touching, scratching, or picking the healing skin
  • Avoid makeup on the treated area until healed
  • Avoid swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms, gyms, and excessive sweating during healing
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning
  • Use only recommended aftercare products
  • Follow all aftercare instructions carefully

Full healing usually takes around 4–6 weeks.

FAQ

Is PMU correction the same as a yearly refresh?

No. A PMU correction is the perfecting session after your first treatment, usually done after 6–8 weeks. A yearly refresh is a maintenance appointment done much later to refresh colour over time.

Why do I need a correction after the first session?

Because every skin type heals differently. The correction allows us to perfect the healed colour, shape, and symmetry once we can see how your skin retained the pigment.

Is correction always needed?

It is highly recommended for the best final result, especially for lips or brows where pigment retention can heal softer in some areas.

Will the correction be as intense as the first appointment?

Usually no. The correction is more focused and is designed to refine the result rather than repeat the full first treatment.

Can I have correction earlier than 6 weeks?

No, the skin needs time to fully heal before we can safely assess and perfect the result. The ideal time is usually 6–8 weeks after the first session.
